Microwave drying tunnel:
The fastest, most efficient technology
The Rivas Robotics microwave drying tunnel is the most advanced industrial solution for fast, efficient and sustainable drying.
Unlike traditional air or steam drying systems, our tunnel offers substantial benefits:
Higher speed: a drastic reduction in drying time.
Energy efficiency: lower energy use and better use of floor space.
Sustainability: zero CO₂ emissions and no polluting gases.
Intelligent automation: electronic power adjustment and compatibility with data logging and control systems.
Instant conversion of energy into heat: an immediate process, for maximum productivity.
Applications across industries
Our microwave drying tunnel is the right solution for many sectors, including:
🔹 Food and animal feed industry
🔹 Insect processing
🔹 Wood and plaster drying
🔹 Other industrial processes that need efficient drying

Frequently asked questions
1. What is the difference between a microwave drying tunnel and a hot-air or infrared tunnel?
Microwave drying heats the product from the inside out, which drastically reduces drying time, improves energy efficiency and avoids surface overheating.
2. What does microwave drying bring at industrial scale?
Shorter process time, lower energy use, more uniform drying, less product loss and precise control of final moisture content.
3. Which materials or products can be dried?
Food (nuts, spices, herbs, snacks and so on), chemicals, porous materials, timber, special textiles, ceramics. We adapt the tunnel to the product and its requirements.
4. How is the required microwave power determined?
It depends on the product type, initial moisture, flow rate, density and target moisture. We run preliminary tests and simulations to size the power and the tunnel length correctly.
5. Is it safe to work with microwaves at industrial scale?
Yes. The tunnels are fully shielded, comply with CE regulations and include safety sensors, interlocks and microwave leakage detection systems.
6. Can the tunnel be integrated into my existing production line?
Yes. We design the tunnel to measure, with the right conveyors to integrate it into existing automated lines.
7. What maintenance does the system need?
Very little. Mainly periodic cleaning, visual inspection and magnetron replacement according to their service life. We can include preventive maintenance or remote assistance.
8. What sensors and control systems does the tunnel include?
Power, temperature, moisture and belt speed controls, an industrial PLC, a touch HMI, and the option of connecting to SCADA or Industry 4.0 systems.
9. How is product temperature controlled during drying?
With infrared probes, thermal cameras (optional) and automatic power regulation by zone.
10. Is drying uniform throughout the product?
Yes. Volumetric heating and zone control avoid cold spots and overheated spots, giving uniformity.
11. How much energy does a microwave tunnel use?
It depends on the model and the output, but energy performance is better than conventional systems. We can calculate the cost per kg/h from your product data.
12. Can the drying rate be adjusted?
Yes. It is adjusted automatically through microwave power, belt speed and the tunnel configuration.
13. What sizes and power ratings are available?
We build modular tunnels from 3 kW to over 300 kW, with lengths that adapt to any industrial line.
14. Does it comply with European regulations?
Yes. All Rivas Robotics equipment complies with CE, with electrical and industrial safety standards, and with the specific directives on electromagnetic emissions.
15. Can I ask for tests with my own product?
Yes. We can run drying tests at our facility or at your plant to size the exact tunnel.
You can also always try it in an ordinary domestic microwave. Run tests with small quantities, varying power and time. Take several readings, and if the product behaves well and the result is good, it scales up to industrial level perfectly.
